EN: 21/12/2023 University of Coimbra to coordinate Lusophone Microbiology Network
The University of Coimbra (UC) will coordinate the 'Lusophone Microbiology Network', which will bring together higher education institutions from Portuguese-speaking countries and regions in favour of the development of research and support for the study, preservation, and bioprospecting of microbiological resources.
The idea is to promote the development of microorganism culture collections and training through collaboration between laboratories and research centres with a strong link to the study of microbial biodiversity.
In addition to the UC, the institutions that are part of this cooperation agreement are the Macau University of Science and Technology, the University of Cape Verde, the Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique, the Agostinho Neto University in Angola, and the Universities of São Paulo and Santa Catarina State University and Embrapa Agrobiology - National Agrobiology Research Centre in Brazil are also part of this Network, among others.
