11/04/2024 - A Fado session, in the garden of the House of Amália Rodrigues, a Portuguese-style evening as only Portugal can offer!
Every country has its own customs and traditions, and we should explore them whenever the opportunity arises. If you're in Portugal and want to get to know and experience our customs and traditions, don't let this opportunity pass you by!
Come and discover, feel the magic and emotion of Fado in the garden of the house where Amália Rodrigues lived for over 40 years.
Amália da Piedade Rodrigues was a Portuguese singer, actress and fado singer, generally acclaimed as the voice of Portugal, and one of the most brilliant singers of the 20th century.
She is the most successful Portuguese artist of all time and is buried in the National Pantheon, among other illustrious Portuguese figures.
The garden of what was once her home is now hosting unique concerts of voice, Portuguese guitar and Fado viola, in an intimate and exclusive setting. This experience recalls the themes popularised by Amália Rodrigues, from Fado to traditional songs and popular marches.
The garden of Casa de Amália is a well-kept secret in the heart of Lisbon, with very limited seating.
The acoustic concerts can also be preceded by a guided tour of the House-Museum (not included in the concert ticket, you must book in advance).
Opened to the public as a House-Museum, by Amália's express wishes, visiting this building is a return to the past through the history of the Voice of Portugal.
The concerts take place every Thursday, and Saturday.
Venue: Amália Rodrigues Foundation, Rua de São Bento, 193 - Lisbon
