19.12.24 - Camila Maissune, co-curator of Black Ancient Futures, invites all those curious to take a tour around this beautiful universe, at MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, from December 14th until February 2nd of next year.   

The Black Ancient Futures exhibition seems to be a unique experience that delves into the intersections of history, culture, spirituality and the future, with a particular emphasis on the African diaspora and the various forms of artistic expression. It proposes a profound reflection on the present and future of African cultures, while questioning and “re-imagining” the role of art in building alternative futures and reinterpreting historical narratives.  

Bringing together 11 artists from the African diaspora and presenting them for the first time in Portugal offers an opportunity for Portuguese audiences to come into contact with a spectrum of voices and aesthetics that can often be marginalized or unknown in more Western contexts.
