18.4.2019-On 21 March, Lisbon was elected as the winner of the 2018 European Mobility Week award for its good practices in promoting the environment and sustainable mobility.
Lisbon was again distinguished, this time for the commitment to promoting the environment and sustainable mobility. It was decided by the European Commission in the European Mobility Week in the 2018 edition and announced on the 21st March that Lisbon is the European city worthy of the award that distinguishes cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, beating the remaining finalists Gdynia, Poland and Palma, Spain.
The award was given to the city councilor for Mobility and Security of the Lisbon municipality, Miguel Gaspar, in Brussels. He highlighted the commitment of Lisbon city hall to "leave a better world" for future generations.
