27.3.25 - On the 24th day of march, we celebrate the various generations of students who throughout history have played a fundamental role in the fight for freedom and rights defended in the decisions taken about the future of higher education in Portugal. This date also marks the role of students in social change, at times such as the Estado Novo regime in 1962, the Academic Crisis of 1969 or the 1992 protests.

In the context in which we find ourselves, with the recent fall of the government, it is important to highlight this day because the consequent political instability associated with it appears to be a threat to the construction of the fair and developed country that we aspire to and where we want to project a future.

This date was established on May 8th , 1987, by decree no. 77/IV, with the purpose of “encouraging student participation in school life and society” and “cooperation and coexistence between students”. This decree also aims to “democratize and develop education”, as well as “connect students with the community”.

This year, it was marked by the moments you can see here.
