22.08.19- The University of Coimbra has developed a platform that allows us to carry out screening and counting of the garbage existing on the beaches of our maritime coast.
This "Citizen Science Project", an “app” format, lixomarinho.app aims to raise awareness of citizens to the fight against marine trash and the urgency to adopt measures for what is becoming a "serious environmental problem".
This application already has 23,000 records of garbage identified as mostly cigarettes butts and plastic.
How does it work?
Register in the app, go to a beach with some friends and then all you have to do is count all the garbage you collected and insert it in the app... trust me you will make a difference!
