7.11.2024- The XVIII Figueira da Foz Internacional Chess Festival will bring together the world's elite in an unmissable competition. It's from the 9th to the 17th of November. 

The XVIII Figueira da Foz Chess Festival, the most prestigious chess event in Portugal, is back! 

The event will bring together around a hundred players from almost 20 countries, including 15 Grandmasters, seven International Masters and ten FIDE Masters. This year, the tournament offers the biggest prize in the history of national chess, which adds to the prestige and competitiveness of the competition. 

The festival also includes cultural activities, such as the launch of the book ‘The Great Book of Chess: a manual and a history’ by Álvaro Faria. 

The event will take place from the 9th to the 17th of November. At the closing ceremony, the tournament prizes will be awarded at the Sweet Atlantic Hotel & Spa, where the highlights of international and national chess are expected to be celebrated.
