27/07/17 – New instrument promulgated by the Portuguese President will come into effect on the 1st September 2017
The Portuguese President has enacted an instrument decreeing that university tuition fees for Bachelor and Masters programmes will be paid over the course of a minimum of 7 months as of enrolment in the university. Whilst individual institutions will still be able to create alternative payment plans, this measure will help in reducing the financial burden on students.
The instrument will also ensure that students on financial aid programmes will only be required to make payments related to their tuition fees after receiving payments from these programmes, ensuring that they are not left in a situation where they have no cash due to delays caused by the financial aid programme management bodies.
This is the third change to this law in Portugal and we, at StudentVille, fully support the positive direction in which Portugal is moving, making studying here more accessible to all students.
